Founded in 1992, the Australian Investment Council is the national peak body for private capital. We represent and support the leading domestic and international private capital firms operating in Australia.

Our members span private equity, venture capital, private credit, institutional investors – including profit-for-member superannuation funds - and the professional services firms that provide expertise to the industry.

Our purpose

Our purpose is to enable private capital to invest in Australian ideas, businesses and communities. We do this by advocating for our members, providing forums for connection, and equipping our members through education and information.

We advocate for our industry with policymakers and stakeholders, empower our members by providing insights and building capability, and bring members together and harness our networks.

We set the foundations for high standards through our Constitution and our industry Code of Conduct.

Lead.Equip.Connect

Lead. equip. connect

We demonstrate leadership by engaging with governments on policies that give investors confidence in supporting emerging and growth businesses. Our members help shape our work through working groups, submissions and roundtables.

We connect members through regular online and offline networking events. Our annual conference, for example, is an opportunity to hear from and meet senior industry leaders.

We equip our members with the latest insights and understanding of industry trends through regular professional development opportunities and access to proprietary data and research.
